Fight Against Covid 19

1. Break the chain campaign

PSWS contributed effectively to mitigate the suffering and anxiety of people when the Corona virus struck all over the world /world population. To popularize break the chain campaign to contain the spread of the virus infection, PSWS set up many hand wash units at various places. In addition to distributing soap and liquid hand wash free of cost, sanitizers and masks were made available to people at nominal prices.

2. Kit Distribution

Following the covid 19 outbreak, when the lockdown was enforced and people lost their jobs, and jobs were scarce, PSWS distributed thousands of food (grains) kits free of cost needy families, with the cooperation of caritas India, local self-governing institutions, Parish churches convents, self-help societies, karshaka dal federation etc. Distribution of kits at the diocese level was inaugurated jointly by the bishop, Mar Joseph Kallaranagatt and Shri Jose K Mani M.P. Distribution of food grain and vegetable kits, organized by PSWS was inaugurated by Shri Mons Joseph, MLA at Mannackanad St Sebastian's church compound. PSWS Director Rev. Fr. Thomas Kizhakkel preceded the function.

3. Masks and sanitizers distribution

PSWS has been distributing masks and sanitizers. These and other daily use articles are available at reduced prices at PSWS’s regional office can shop at Shalom Pastoral centre and at Agrima Agriculture Open Market.

4. Financial help to the covid stricken

When the inmates of Maria Sadan, the mental health care centre at pala, were infected with corona, PSWS extended financial aid to them.

5. Distribution of Smart TV sets

Due to Covid 19, when schools were shut and online classes started, PSWS came to the aid of a number of students from economically backward families who could not afford smart TV sets to attend classes. At a function organized at the Bishop’s house Pala, Mar Jacob Murickan Auxiliary bishop distributed smart TV sets to a number of needy students. Vicar General Mons. Sebastian Vettaanth was present on the occasion.
